About Colorwave

Founded in 2020, Colorwave is a California-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) committed to closing the racial wealth gap by connecting professionals of color with career opportunities in high-growth sectors, particularly within venture-backed startups. With a mission rooted in equity and empowerment, Colorwave has established itself as a transformative force in reshaping pathways for underrepresented talent.

The TRAC Program: A Bold Step into Emerging Tech

In 2024, Colorwave launched its Technical Residency in AI or Cybersecurity (TRAC) program—an innovative, five-month residency designed to immerse underrepresented professionals in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and cybersecurity. Backed by the Google Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund, TRAC provides participants with hands-on project experience, certifications, and career development opportunities.

Participant Snapshot:

  • Cohort Size: 25 technical professionals
  • Demographics: 84% identify as Black, Latinx, or multiracial; 56% female
  • Industries Represented: Product, Software Engineering, Consulting, UX/UI, Data Science
  • Employers: American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Scale AI, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and others
  • Geography: Participants from across the U.S., with strong representation from the East, South, and West regions

Morgan Latimer Consulting’s Role

Through Morgan Latimer Consulting, Anthony D. Mays partnered with Colorwave to deliver targeted technical interview training and group coaching as part of the TRAC curriculum. This support included:

  • Expert-led group workshops on technical interview preparation featuring hands-on coding
  • Access to the Mastering Technical Interviews video course designed to boost technical interviewing confidence and success
  • Tailored coaching approaches to meet the varying experience levels of TRAC’s diverse cohort

This work was integral in preparing participants for high-stakes interviews in AI/ML and cybersecurity, offering them the tools to secure career-defining opportunities.

When asked about Morgan Latimer Consulting’s impact, John Roussel, Co-founder and CEO of Colorwave, shared:

“During our work together, Anthony demonstrated strong facilitation skills, the ability to differentiate instruction across various SWE experience levels, and a genuine commitment to attendees’ advancement and skill development.”

Lasting Outcomes

Colorwave’s TRAC program is more than a residency—it’s a launching pad for emerging leaders in technology. With strategic partners like Morgan Latimer Consulting, Colorwave continues to deliver measurable impact, expanding access to technical careers and shifting the narrative around who gets to lead in tech.
