Overview
In a strategic partnership with Google’s Code Next and the Tech Equity Collective (TEC), Morgan Latimer Consulting led the Art of Interviewing (AOI) Series — a six-part educational initiative designed to prepare aspiring Black+ professionals for career success through high-impact workshops, resume reviews, and mock interviews. Spearheaded by Anthony D. Mays, this series addressed the systemic underrepresentation of Black technologists by providing practical, high-touch support and mentorship to over 600 participants.
Partner Background
Google Code Next is a free, immersive computer science education program focused on equipping Black, Latinx, and Native high school students with the skills, mentorship, and social capital needed to pursue high-achieving careers in tech. Their programs are based in select U.S. cities and serve as incubators for the next generation of innovators.
Tech Equity Collective (TEC) is a Google initiative that aims to accelerate Black representation in the tech industry by supporting community organizations, hosting educational events, and creating sustainable pathways into technical roles. TEC emphasizes advancement over remediation, seeking to elevate Black talent to positions of influence and innovation within the tech ecosystem.
The Challenge
While awareness of tech careers has grown, equitable access to interview preparation, mentorship, and community support has not. Many Black+ professionals — especially those new to the field — lack exposure to real-world interviewing experiences and professional development tailored to their needs.
Google’s Code Next and TEC recognized this gap and turned to Morgan Latimer Consulting to deliver a solution rooted in mentorship, technical coaching, and community empowerment.
Our Solution
Morgan Latimer Consulting, under the direction of Anthony D. Mays, developed a results-driven curriculum for the Art of Interviewing Series, including:

- Introduction to Technical Interviewing
- Problem Solving for Interviews
- Building Professional Narratives
- Principles of Good Code Design
- Big-O, Data Structures, and Algorithms Deep Dive
- In-Person Resume Review & Networking Workshop Held at Google’s Playa Vista campus during Black History Month 2023, this workshop brought together over 100 attendees and Googler volunteers for personalized resume feedback and professional headshots.
- Virtual Mock Interviews Over 220 hours of interviews were conducted with Googlers, giving participants tailored feedback in both technical and behavioral formats.
- Office Hours & Community Engagement Anthony hosted open office hours, meet-and-greets, and follow-ups to maintain momentum and build lasting relationships with participants.
